I am a Senior Counsel (Advocate) designated by the High Court of Karnataka. I served as the Additional Advocate General, Karnataka during the Siddaramaiah government as well as the initial period of the Kumarswamy led coalition. I resigned in April 2018, to commence my private practice.

I officially entered into politics with my appointment as the Chairman, Legal, Human Rights & RTI cell, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee. Thereafter, I was also appointed as the official spokesperson of the Congress party. I have set up a law firm in the name of AKS Legal prior to being designated as a senior counsel and the said form continues to run, albeit without my active participation.

My brothers and I have set up an educational and charitable trust in the name of my late parents ‘AK Subbaiah Ponnamma educational and charitable trust’ and have been carrying out a series of philanthropic activities more so during the Covid pandemic. The activities of the trust, though presently centered in Kodagu district, will hopefully in the coming days spread its wings and become pan Karnataka. I am the managing trustee of the trust.
